Countdown to nutrition information: three top tips

appleThe countdown has begun. On December 13, 2016, the second round of FIC/FIR/EU 1169 provisions will come into force.

As John Prendergast explains on a new post on the Infood website, this will mean that all pre-packed foods will need to provide nutritional information per 100g of product.

John looks back on the first 12 months of FIR and how food firms have dealt with the introduction of mandatory allergen information. He finds that in some areas of the food industry non-compliance stands at 80% while so-called grace periods are coming to an end.

Will enforcement officers be quite so lenient in 2016? After all, manufacturers will have had almost four years to prepare for the new rules on nutrition.
